Blogging via my PS3...

This is just a quick test to see if I can blog via my PS3. Which has finally now been registered online and hopefully I should receive my copy of Casino Royale on Blu-ray.

The difficult first month...

Like any new relationship the first month in what could be a long time love affair can often be difficult. The slow getting to know each other, ours of chatting, play and watching films. Getting used to each others choice in music. We (my girlfriend and I) have taken something else into our relationship.

Our lovely PS3 now lovingly called Epislon3. It's not been the easiest month and has created mixed feelings. First the initial wow factor of having the machine and slowly discovering what could be done. The compatability with PSP, DVD's, CD's, Memory Sticks etc. The ability to copy music, movies and files from said devices and play them on the machine wow.

The games F1, has made me realise that I'll never be a real F1 driver as the game actually scares me, it's so damn realistic. The sourrond sound, which is now almost setup perfectly, still needs a sub-woofer. It's imersive no other word sums it up.

Virtua Fighter 5 hard as hell at first especially after the weeks of Tekkening that have been recently... TBC

She moves, she moves...

It's flows so well and the button presses for certain characters start to come back if you've played as much as we'd done. Resistance: Fall of Man now this is an amazing First Person shooter. WW2 never happend instead the world was invaded by Aliens. The shooting takes place in various location around England. With York & Grimsby being the closest to me. This game music be very playable as my gf has become addicted to the story mode on it and has loved playing it in Co-Op mode.

Not all plain sailing?

Sadly in new relationship not everything goes well all the time. The major gripe come into flavours. They've caused tears & frustration but are starting to ease. Fisrtly the lack of backwards compatability of previous PS games. No PS2 chips in this baby so Sony can save £15 per Euro machine, yet again GB gamers are given a poor serve after all the delays this! It was partly fixed by having to faff around dling a Fireware update and transfereing via Memory Stick. So now all the Singstars work, phew, and so do the EyeToy games but with a few minor glitches. Sadly I've not games a pile of games that simply won't work. I'm not happy. But the more popular ones do work. This leads nicely into my 2nd major gripe. You need broadband to use the machine properly and to be ablke to update the fireware without hassle, Also by simply activating your Online ID via a PC it still doesn't entitle you to a free disc. Thanks to a friend, I've managed to get online and register for Folding@home & download...

It's the strangest version of PacMan I've every played...

flOw £3.49 Playstation Store

It's like a mix of mobile phone stable Sanke & PacMan. You control a Sea-monkey style creature that as it eats it grows and the more you the you start to evolve. To the point where you're eating the other watery companions.

The game is unique purely due to the way in which you control the creature using the PS3 Six Axis pads titling function and wow it works. Everyone who's played it has fallen under it's spell & within 10 mins are swimming around gracefully catching creature & growing bigger, the ambient music adding to the relaxation.

So after this taste of download gaming a decision was made for us to get broadband. Which means that a few otions start to open up including...

I have no strings to hold me down...

Remote Play the feature I most wanted to have a play with and was so gutted when firstly. It didn't work straight out the box but requires a Firmware update to both Systems & The pairing of the systems vis USB. My gf's White PSP had no problems. After the Fireware update mentioned in the previous entry. Mine simply told me I needed to update my already highest version.

Even a call to Sony Customer services couldn't solve it. A bit of deleting and I solved it myself. Then I discovered that ATRAC playback needed to be set via broadband. Which was done when I registered the sytem via friends broadband.

My gf was able to control our PS3 just like it actually was the sytem streaming music, video & pictures to the High Res PSP screen. Nice! Both of ours now work. With finally getting broadband installed it's meant the sytem has completely opened up. The things I've done are very basic at the moment but it's getting better the more I play.

Blogging through my TV...

So now the broadbands set up and working, both our PSP's , PS3 & PC can use the net.

Which included using youtube as the largest TV jukebox, for music videos & trailer. And the rather quality feature of being able to do all the entries from now via my £5 USB used keyboad on my coffee table, through my TV.

I'm still feeling a little isolated as I've not yet had an online game of anything.

Sadly I've misplaced Syphon Filter for my PSP so I can't have a game on line yet. I'm also wanting to get F1 online & kick some butt on Resistance. Which I think I might just have a go at. I'll add more as I start to do it. I haven't tried the chat functions yet or played some of the awesome downloaded demos including the beautifully looking Grand Turismo:HD.
