1st plays

Lair Trail version HK PSN I've got the full version of the game ordered from a friend on the cheap but finally I've had a chance to have a bash before it arrives. After the slating it got and thanks to a new update the game is loads better than I was expecting. Mainly due to the fact that you don't have to use the six-axis. You control a rider on the back of a dragon that has two modes of movement in the air Controled with the six-axis (sticks control the camera) which seems to work and on the ground controlled by the sticks, . The graphics are amazing especially on the beasts themselves. The controls are far better than I was expecting and the six-axis seems to work The demo is relatively short with only 2 levels but is well worth a look. Roll on next month and I can finally review this properly and the amazing Remote-play functionality. So can someone please tell me why the EU store doesn't have this demo? It really would have sold copies unlike Kane and Lynch demo which put people right off it.

Super Stardust HD Version 3.0

I've just managed to download and install the new patch for the quite amazing PSN game Super Stardust HD. This £2.99 patch adds a few more SIngle player game modes, with online scoreboards to go with them: Bomber: On a new planet not looking too disimilar to something "that ain't no moon" The only weapon you have is bombs and you have to create chain reactions to complete the level. A nice change. Time Trial: Pick a planet and instead of collecting points you collect time deductions, to set the best time on that planet. This I played a fair bit and it's damn hard. Lots going on at once. Endless: Basically play forever on a loop to get the maximun score. Which I've not yet tried otherwise my addiction to shooting rocks will be back [pfft]. Survival: Last as long as you can. The patch also adds a couple of rather top things including: DTS sorround sound (my god it's loud), Retro game music sound track and an Easy mode for Arcade. A well rounded update that really makes me wanna save those planets.

2 ways to play

echochrome PSP & PS3 demo HK Store download A strange puzzle game were you guide a waking artists maniquine around MC Esher style pictures using the strange perspective to collect echos of your self. The game follows rules and mess with convention Physics and feel child like. ie the idea if you can't see something it's not there. Don't get me wrong this game is actually quite difficult main on the PS3 due to my pads being knackered from a years hardwareing. The PSP version doesn't look quiet as good but is exactly the same. Well at least the demo is. The game looks simple and starts by getting you to learn the basic lessons of this world. Well worth a look and from what I hear the PSP version is going to have a level creator. The PS3 version sadly doesn't. No release date stated for EU store but I'll let you know if I get a full copy to review.

First person horror!?

Condemed 2 demo This game is a Sega sequel to a game I've never heard of let alone played. This is reminds me of the first person bits in Silent Hill 4: The Room. The game is a first person shooter that I never actually picked a gun up. Idid bash quite a few black slime beasts with punches and kicks. As well as smacking demons with lead pipes and crutches. The game does look awesome and I'm so surprised by the fact that it made me jump a bit. Has made me want to finish Jericho that I borrowed about a month ago.

Store refresh

So as you may be aware I have access to the following store UK/EU, Austrailian, Hong Kong and USA. I've been looking at the new layout anmd all the regions deal with their contents differently which is an arse. The store looks and feels like the SingStore and seems simple. The only real issues are with font size being too small even on a 28" SD CRT. There's no search option which would be simple and effective. I'll review each store sepately in the comments.

"That's not a gun..."

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters PSP Birthday gift

Firsty I was a little disappointed when I booted this game up mainly due to being spoilt by R&C: Tools of Destruction (PS3) being so amazingly beautiful.

Once passed the ovious graphical differenceas and having to play with 2 less button than on a PS3 pad. The game is wonderful, enriched with generous amounts of humour and lots of mini-games (Robot wars style arena battles, Lemmings style puzzles).

The weapons feel like prequels to the guns in R&C:ToD but are no less funny.

I'm not that far through just emerged through a rather stange dream of Ratchets that had the most amazing visuals I've seen on a portable gaming device.

I'll provide a full review when I've completed the story mode.

PAiNfully funny

Pain PSN £4.99 (Additional content also available)

The wait for this to make it onto the EU Store has been a long time and I was starting to think that maybe it just wasn't going to be worth it. The game is basically catapoulting a person at aobjects and trying to cause as much damage as possible. This is mainly done by causing chain reactions and bouncing (aftertouch)

I was so sadly mistaken. This game is awesome but only when you've got passed the slightly confusing training. The game is played using all the buttons on the pad and they seem to have different context's. Ie when flying the face buttons (Symbol buttons) to grabs the the respective directs or when pressed with either of the Left shoulder button hold pose.

Once you're through the training the real game opens and you have a choice between single player and multiplayer. I can recommend HORSE as a 4 player pass the pad game. A person sets up the target and a score from hitting that target then everyone else has to try and beat the score by hitting the same thing. If you fail to reach the score you are given a letter and have to sit out until everyone until the top score isn't beaten. Anyone who's played Tony Hawk will be familier with this set up.

The highest score was set by a friend of over 700,000 which nobody came close to. It is really satisfying when you keep boucing into thing s and keep your combo going.

We also had a play at 2 player bolwing where I person fires there character at giant pins in the aim to knock them over and player two has 3 counter measures they can launch to put the other person off. The funniest thing I saw was watch a firnmd lauch himself expecting to go under a giant metal beam dropped by another friend instead he ended up looking like Wyle Ceote and when splat straight intop the center of the metal girder. Much laughter and replays insued.

I've not fully played all the aspects of the game but I will endeavour to try and fully review it soon.
